How big is it?
The Marpac 980A is less than seven inches wide and five inches tall. The Marsona 600A is seven inches by five inches and four inches high. Both will fit comfortably on your bedside table and leave plenty of room for a lamp, drink and book and are completely portable. The Marsona 600A even has a battery compartment so you can take it anywhere!
What does it sound like?
The Marpac 980A sounds just like a fan - but it's better! It's far more economical, it creates a much more soothing, constant sound with no irregularities - and of course it won't make you cold.
The Marsona 600A has six different sounds and a volume control (from very quiet to very loud). The white noise on this machine is not such a gentle sound, but it is extremely effective in helping sleep. The other sounds are Thunderstorm (my favourite, really atmospheric and great for relaxing before switching to white noise for sleep), Surf as it meets the sand of the beach, babbling Brook, the gentle lapping water at the Lakeshore, or the sounds of crickets and spring peepers on a Country Eve. The sounds on the Marsona DSI-600A are Marpac's US customers favourite and most requested sounds.

How quickly will it be delivered?
Many machines are shipped the day the order arrives. We ship all machines within 36 hours of receiving orders (not including weekends). We send Marpac 980A via First Class Recorded and Marsona 600A via Next Day before 1pm. How does it work?
The Marpac 980A is an electro-mechanical sound conditioner. Its patented motor generates the white noise by sucking air through the outer shell’s small holes. The Marsona 600A is a digital recording of white noise played from a speaker inside the unit. It's the only digital machine I've tested where the sound is constant with no 'loop'.
What is a white noise CD?
White noise CDs are a recording of the noise created by a white noise machine. Even with a CD on a loop, there is always a pause while the CD restarts itself, and that pause can itself be an annoyance and cause you to wake.
Who are Marpac?
Marpac is the USA's biggest and best manufacturer of sound conditioners. They manufacture the Marpac 980A and the Marsona 600A. Marpac was established in 1967 and has been employee-owned since 1997. Marpac products are of the highest quality and are manufactured or assembled at their own factories in the US.
